Rockford, IL – February 14, 2025 – The Rockford Area Pride Committee is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the Honorary Grand Marshals of the Rockford Area Pride Parade 2025, scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025.
This year’s theme, Celebrate + Remember + Unite, reflects the core principles of Pride: joy, remembrance, and solidarity. The Honorary Grand Marshals will be selected to represent one of these three categories, embodying the spirit of the LGBTQ+ community in and around Rockford.
Celebrate – Who represents a “celebration” of the LGBTQ+ Community in and around Rockford, Illinois? This honoree brings joy and recognition to the community through their actions, contributions, and presence.
Remember – Who represents the history and/or legacy of the LGBTQ+ Community in and around Rockford, Illinois? This honoree may have played a pivotal role in shaping the community, preserving its history, or advocating for its progress.
Unite – Who has united the LGBTQ+ Community in and around Rockford, Illinois? This honoree is someone who has worked to bridge divides, foster inclusivity, and bring people together for a common cause.
The nomination period is now open and will close on March 1, 2025. Community members can submit their nominations via the Rockford Area Pride Committee website at www.rockfordareapride.org.
The Rockford Area Pride Committee will review all nominations and select the Honorary Grand Marshals who best exemplify the values of Celebration, Remembering, and Uniting. The selected honorees will be formally recognized at a special reception on March 19, 2025, at the LIAM Foundation in Rockford. More details on that reception are forthcoming.
